Holy Trinity pastor honored

San Pedro Region
text only version

After 25 years of service, San Pedro's Holy Trinity Church pastor Father Thomas J. Glynn retired last month from active priesthood. On June 6 his parish honored his faithful service and outstanding leadership with a gala celebration with an Irish touch, attended by over 1,000 people.

"Father Tom has truly created a loving environment and we parishioners feel a real bond with each other. We are a Holt Trinity family," said parishioner Tom Villiger.

Father Glynn came to Holy Trinity in 1979 and immediately began working to help the parish set up outreach programs for the needy.

Under his watch a new parish center was built. He had recently been offering support to the growing number of Latino parishioners and working to complete the major remodeling of the parish school and church.

Believing that the laity should have a say in guiding the church, Father Glynn assisted in the formation of a new Parish Pastoral Council. "Each of us, as children of God, have gifts to share with each other," he stated.
