Social justice focus groups announced

text only version

The archdiocesan Office of Justice and Peace will hold focus groups in June and July to discern how the office can support parishes and regional pastoral councils to implement the Synod's Pastoral Initiative VI: Social Justice: Living at the Service of God's Reign of Social Justice.

"Our intent is to continue to identify key contacts in the parishes involved with social justice, to gain a better understanding of what parishes are doing in this area now, and to determine what additional resources and services we can provide them as we implement this together," said Maria Elena Perales, director of the Office of Justice and Peace.

Pastors and parish leaders with an interest in social justice are invited to participate. Meetings, one in each pastoral region, will take place Saturdays 9-11:30 a.m. as follows:

June 26: Transfiguration Church, 2515 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Los Angeles (session will be translated simultaneously in Spanish).

July 10: St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 16711 Gault St., Van Nuys.

July 17: Holy Family Church, 1527 Fremont Ave., South Pasadena.

July 24: Blessed Junipero Serra Church, 5205 Upland Rd., Camarillo.

July 31: St. Philomena Church, 21900 S. Main St., Carson.
