All-CIF-Southern Section teams in baseball and softball were announced, with a number of Catholic schools represented on the lists.
Leading the list was Crespi pitcher-shortstop Trevor Plouffe, named player of the year in Division III baseball; Alverno pitcher Jessica Stewart, player of the year in Division VI softball; and Alverno coach Frank Russo Jr., whose team captured the Division VI championship.
Baseball
Division I first team selections include Mater Dei junior Michael Torres and Santa Margarita senior Michael Gaggioli. On the second team are Mater Dei's Danny Espinosa and Jason Schaniel, and Servite's Brad Meyers.
Division III first team: Chaminade senior Chris Lopez, Crespi senior Ollie Linton and junior Mike Gilmartin. Second team: Alemany senior Ryan Platt, Chaminade sophomore Casey Haerther, Crespi senior Nick Santoro.
Division IV first team: Bishop Montgomery senior Mike Zuanich, St. Paul senior Steve Salas, St. Monica senior Logan Gelbrich. Second team: Mary Star senior Derek Robinson, St. Bonaventure sophomore Daniel Abeloe and senior Chris Diaz, St. Paul junior Dwight Tardy and sophomore Justin Pooler.
