Los Angeles native ordained

San Pedro Region
text only version

On June 12, St. Dominic Savio Church in Bellflower celebrated a Mass of ordination for Salesian Father Steven Francis Way, a native of Sierra Madre. Retired San Pedro Region Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Sartoris was the ordaining prelate.

On June 13, Father Way offered a special Mass of Thanksgiving with Father Joe Wiggins as the homilist.

Father Way earned his Master of Divinity degree in May from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley. He had previously studied at the University of Denver, earning a B.A. in French and Spanish literature, and taught at St. Benedict School in Montebello and St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower.

His first priestly assignment will be on the faculty of Salesian High School in Richmond, Calif., where he will be involved in the campus ministry program.
