"Always
put God in your life," television anchorwoman Ann Martin told
the 66 graduates of San Gabriel Mission High School at the
school's May 29 graduation ceremony.
The
KCBS-TV newswoman, who earlier in the year spoke to the student
body as part of Catholic School Week, offered advice and encouragement
to the graduates, noting that --- after polling her newsroom
colleagues on what words of wisdom they might offer, summarized
them as: "Plan your future and work hard."
Dominican Sister Laurence Diaz, assistant principal and
alumni advisor, called graduation a time of reflection and
preparation. "Graduation gives them a sense of being women
of integrity," she said. "We want them to be rooted in faith
because that's where they will find their strength in the
world."
