St. John's fundraiser postponed

Santa Barbara Region

The St. John's Regional Medical Center and St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital Foundations' "Adventure 2004" fundraising gala, originally scheduled for June 12 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, has been postponed until the fall.

The June 5 death of former President Reagan and the subsequent events at the Reagan Library --- including the viewing of the president's casket by thousands of visitors early in the week, and the final burial June 11 --- made the decision to delay the gala necessary, hospital officials said. The event has been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16.

"Adventure 2004" will honor Jack Broome and John Borchard, longtime community leaders and philanthropists, as the first recipients of the Catherine McAuley Lifetime Achievement Award. For information, call Laura Lueke, director of fund development, at (805) 988-2724.
