San Fernando Region
text only version

Sister of Charity Dolores O'Dwyer was honored at a parish Mass and retirement celebration banquet at Castaways Restaurant in Burbank May 23 for her 36 years of service as principal of St. Bernard School in Los Angeles.

Father Gerald McSorley, St. Bernard pastor, commended Sister O'Dwyer for having had a "marvelous influence" in the lives of so many students, parents, teachers and staff during her long tenure. "Because of you," said Father McSorley, "St. Bernard School has been a great beacon of light and a very successful Catholic school throughout the years."

In 1991, the National Catholic Education Association named Sister O'Dwyer as the year's Outstanding Principal of the Western States.
