Teacher elected as Dominican provincial

Sister Jo Ann Timmerman

Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Jo Ann Timmerman was elected prioress provincial for the religious order's Western Province.

Sister Timmerman, a native of Sinsinawa, Wis., formerly taught at St. Thomas More School in Alhambra. She currently ministers as a marriage and family therapist operating out of the Light of the World Church in Littleton, Col., and is a chaplain at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. Her term as prioress provincial begins July 1, 2004.

The 730-member Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation is comprised of three provinces. Founded in 1847 by the Venerable Father Samuel Mazzuchelli, the Congregation continues to live out its mission to preach and teach the Gospel in order to build a holy and just society.
