Catholic Daughters celebrate
80 years of service

The Court of Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Los Angeles recently celebrated its 80th anniversary.

Established in March of 1924, Court Angeles has supported many Los Angeles charities through monetary giving and volunteer services. These have included St. Vincent Center, St. Francis Center, Los Angeles Mission, Los Angeles Central Juvenile Hall and Good Shepherd Home. Court Angeles has also supported missionaries in India, Africa and Honduras.

Members of Court Angeles were among the leaders in establishing Camp Teresita Pines in 1929. The have been regular supporters of Madonna Manor, a retirement home built by and for CDA's of California.

Court Angeles leaders include Agnes Gaul Mueller who served as state regent. Ethel Felix was the first president of Camp Teresita Pines and Marcella Welsh served Madonna Manor for 12 years, two of those a president. St. Vincent de Paul Sister Alice Marie Quinn, founder and director of St. Vincent Medical Center's Meals on Wheels, is also a member of Court Angeles. Members have served the state court in many leadership positions.

The local chaplain is Claretian Father Richard Estrada, director of Jovenes, Inc., and Bishop Joseph Sartoris serves as state chaplain.

Court Angeles meets on the first Saturday of each month at the parish hall of St. Brendan Church in Los Angeles. Women interested in membership are invited to call Cecelia at (213) 388-5328 or Marcella at (310) 376-4647.
