Fr.
Thomas Feeley, CSC
Funeral Mass was celebrated April 28 at Holy Cross Church,
South Easton, Massachusetts, for Holy Cross Father Thomas
Feeley, 74, who died April 21 in Miami, Florida after a bout
with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born
in New Bedford, Mass., he was ordained in 1955 upon receiving
a theology degree from the Gregorian University in Rome. After
36 years of teaching philosophy at Stonehill College, Easton,
he was assigned in 1998 to Family Rosary, founded by the late
Holy Cross Father Patrick Peyton. Before his death in 1992,
Father Peyton founded and directed Hollywood-based Family
Theater Productions, which produced more than 600 radio and
television programs featuring Hollywood stars in shows promoting
family prayer.
In 2001, Father Feeley was appointed vice postulator for
the cause for canonization of Servant of God Father Peyton,
a role he relished. In addition to running retreats for religious
communities in the U.S., Ireland, England and the Middle East,
Father Feeley gathered documentation in support of Father
Peyton's canonization. He spent hours cataloging Father Peyton's
letters, sermons, radio and television shows.
He authored "Friends in the Lord," recently published by
The Pauline Press and co-authored with Stonehill colleague
Frank Gendreau "Moral Integrity," a book on moral philosophy.
He also wrote weekly columns for the Holy Cross Family Ministries
website: www.hcfm.org Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in
Easton, where Father Peyton is buried.
