Eleven
high school winners of the 2004 Cabrini Literary Guild creative
writing awards were honored April 8 at the Oakmont Country
Club in Glendale for outstanding writing. The annual creative
writing contest honors the top five fiction and non-fiction
entries submitted by local Catholic high school students.
Father
Lawrence Signey, Cabrini Guild chaplain and pastor of St.
Robert Bellarmine Church in Burbank, presented the awards
to the following non-fiction winners (listed in order from
first to fifth place): Shannon LeBrun, Mayfield Senior School;
Laura Dominguez, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy; Claire Norman,
Mayfield Senior School; Sarah Gardner, Mayfield Senior School;
Lindsay Hansen, Mayfield Senior School; Paul Cabrera (fifth
place tie winner), St. Paul High School.
First
to fifth place fiction winners listed in sequential order
included: Ani Khachoyan, Bellermine-Jefferson High School;
Amber Herkey, Bellermine-Jefferson High School; Valerie Cervantes,
Mayfield Senior School; Pema Levy, Mayfield Senior School;
and Sylvana M. Hidalgo, Mayfield Senior School.
