'Mardi Gras Madness' raises funds for Bishop Montgomery

San Pedro Region
text only version

On March 27, Bishop Montgomery High School hosted current parents, alumni, faculty/staff, friends and benefactors at its fourth annual Black & Gold Bid Night fundraiser in the Torrance school's gymnasium raising $50,000 for the renovation of the school's outdoor lunch area and the construction of a new athletic practice facility for the school's sports teams.

Themed "Mardi Gras Madness," the event included a silent auction with over 290 items (including trips, tickets to shows and games and gift certificates), casino-style gaming including poker, blackjack, roulette, and craps, dancing, a BMHS Hall of Fame induction, and very own South Bay Restaurant Sampler.

In addition, faculty member Christine Collette was honored for her 25 years of service to Bishop Montgomery High School and inducted into Bishop Montgomery's Hall of Fame.

Funds raised at the Black & Gold Bid Night benefit Bishop Montgomery's student body. In the past, the evening's profits have been used to convert a campus building into a theatre for our emerging drama program, renovate our library and computer rooms and purchase computers for students.
