Jefferson Council to celebrate
St. Joseph's Day

Our Lady of the Angels Region
text only version

The Jefferson Council is sponsoring its annual St. Joseph's Day Celebration, its principal fundraising event, on March 20 at Transfiguration Church in Los Angeles.

A Mass at 10 a.m. will take place with music led by Tatiana, the renowned Croatian singer now based in Los Angeles. Following the Mass there will be a procession to the parish hall carrying the St. Joseph statue followed by a blessing of the St. Joseph altar and the serving of food.

The Jefferson Council was founded in the early 1970s by a small group from Louisiana to provide scholarships to inner-city Catholic schools and to feed the hungry through the Holy Name of Jesus Mini Kitchen. Some of the Los Angeles schools that have benefited financially are Holy Name of Jesus, St. John the Evangelist, St. Brigid, St. Paul and St. Albert the Great. Also receiving assistance are Sisters' Servants of Mary in Los Angeles and Sisters of the Holy Family, whose motherhouse is based in New Orleans.

Transfiguration Church is located at 2515 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. For information, call (323) 291-1136.
