Liturgical Formation Day set March 27

text only version

Liturgical ministers are encouraged to attend the next Liturgical Formation Day, presented by the Office for Worship, on March 27 at St. John Eudes Church, Chatsworth.

Eight four-hour workshops (each in two, two-hour segments) will be offered during the day, which begins at 9:30 a.m. with morning prayer (registration at 8:30 a.m.) and concludes at 3 p.m. The workshops, presenters and "target" audiences include:

---"Liturgical Spirituality," with Kay Murdy (for all liturgical ministers).

---"Eucharistic Ministers," with Father Richard Albarano.

---"Lector Enrichment," with Dr. Linda O'Brien-Rothe (for all involved in proclamation of the word, including lectors, deacons, RCIA team members and children's liturgy of the word leaders).

---"Initiation: Mystagogia," with Sylvia De Villers (for RCIA team members).

---"Music Ministry," with Dr. Paul Ford and Sandra Dooley.

---"Art & Environment," with Dan White (for art and environment committee members).

---"Hospitality Ministry," with Dan Schwala (for greeters, ushers and ministers of hospitality).

---"Sacristan," with Gabriel Perez (for sacristans and altar servers).

The importance of liturgical ministry formation can be connected to Pastoral Initiative V of the Archdiocesan Synod, "Eucharist and Sacramental Living." The first pastoral priority of the initiative stated: "Each parish is to give priority to the Sunday celebration of Mass as the primary occasion and opportunity for revitalizing the spiritual life of the community and, accordingly, make appropriate provision for the full, conscious, and active participation of the faithful."

The fee is $25 per person. St. John Eudes Church is located at 9901 Mason Ave., Chatsworth; for information, call the Office for Worship, (213) 637-7262.
