LARCO Retreat set March 15-16

text only version

"The Blessings That Evolve During the Lenten Seaon" is the theme for the 25th annual retreat sponsored by the Lutheran, Anglican, Roman Catholic and Orthodox (LARCO) Dialogue at Serra Retreat Center, Malibu.

Scheduled March 15 and 16, the retreat will include a morning dialogue session on "Lenten Theological Perspectives," presented by Father John Bakas of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral; Father Alexei Smith, archdiocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious officer; Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord, ecumenical and interreligious officer for the Los Angeles Episcopal Diocese; and Pastor Carol Nolte, ecumenical officer for the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The retreat begins at 9 a.m. March 15 with registration. The first day includes worship in the Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Episcopal traditions, as well as the morning dialogue session; the afternoon dialogue session, "What Does Lent Mean to Me?"; and an evening dialogue session, Lenten worship as experienced by the various faith traditions.

On March 16, worship in the Lutheran tradition is followed by the final dialogue session, adapting the learning and experience of the retreat to the ecumenical movement locally.

The registration of $95 includes two meals each day. A single-day-only fee is $40. For information, contact Serra Retreat Center, 3401 Serra Rd., Malibu, telephone (310) 456-6631.
