"The Blessings That Evolve During the Lenten Seaon" is the
theme for the 25th annual retreat sponsored by the Lutheran,
Anglican, Roman Catholic and Orthodox (LARCO) Dialogue at
Serra Retreat Center, Malibu.
Scheduled March 15 and 16, the retreat will include a morning
dialogue session on "Lenten Theological Perspectives," presented
by Father John Bakas of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral;
Father Alexei Smith, archdiocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious
officer; Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord, ecumenical and interreligious
officer for the Los Angeles Episcopal Diocese; and Pastor
Carol Nolte, ecumenical officer for the Evangelical Lutheran
Church.
The
retreat begins at 9 a.m. March 15 with registration. The first
day includes worship in the Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Episcopal
traditions, as well as the morning dialogue session; the afternoon
dialogue session, "What Does Lent Mean to Me?"; and an evening
dialogue session, Lenten worship as experienced by the various
faith traditions.
On March 16, worship in the Lutheran tradition is followed
by the final dialogue session, adapting the learning and experience
of the retreat to the ecumenical movement locally.
The registration of $95 includes two meals each day. A single-day-only
