'University' returns
at east Ventura County parishes

Santa Barbara Region
text only version

A multi-parish adult education program featuring more than 60 seminars on a variety of subjects is underway at six parishes in eastern Ventura County.

"The University" (formerly Conejo Valley University) is the umbrella name for the series of presentations, running Monday-Thursday, 7:30-9 p.m. through April 3. The topics include evangelization, morality and ethics, family life, peace and justice, church history and teaching, Scripture and prayer.

Two or three presentations are scheduled each night. The participating parishes include St. Paschal Baylon Church, Thousand Oaks; St. Jude and St. Maximillian Kolbe, Westlake Village; Holy Cross, Moorpark; St. Julie Billiart, Newbury Park; and Blessed Junipero Serra, Camarillo. More than 2,700 people attended last year's series of classes.

Additionally, several free artistic presentations are scheduled at St. Paschal Baylon throughout the period, beginning March 6 at 7 p.m. with "The Soprano: A Concert You Can't Refuse" featuring Jane Szondy performing classical and contemporary works. Other concerts include "Our God Is Here," with vocalist Chris Muglia (March 22, 7:30 p.m.); "I Thirst: The Crucifixion Story," with singer Tatiana (March 27, 7 p.m.); and "Organ Music of the Masters," with organist Kevin Stoller (April 3, 7 p.m.).

Registration is $5 in advance, $7 at the door, or $50 for the series with unlimited accessibility to any presentation. For information, call the participating parish.
