Matt, a Life Scout in Troop 50, earned his Pope Pius XII Award, the highest Catholic award that a Scout can earn. Tiondra, a Cadette Girl Scout in Troop 517, earned her Marian Award, the highest Catholic award for Girl Scouts ages 11-14; and Vincent, a Webelos II in Pack 50, earned his Parvuli Dei Award, the Catholic award for Cub Scouts.

The children are members of St. Joseph Church in Carpinteria and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Montecito.
