CIF title games set in basketball, soccer

At least one CIF-Southern Section title in boys basketball will be won by a Catholic school when St. Joseph of Santa Maria (26-3) plays St. Bernard (20-10) in the Division IV-AA final March 4, 8:30 p.m. at Loyola Marymount University.

Just prior to that game at 6:30 p.m. is the Division IV-A final between Verbum Dei (17-9) and Flintridge Prep. Santa Margarita (26-3) will meet Calabasas in the Division II-AA final on March 6, 9 a.m. at the Pond in Anaheim.

In girls basketball, Mater Dei (17-10) plays Brea Olinda for the Division II-A championship on March 5, 6:30 p.m., while Bishop Amat (27-3) meets Muir for the III-A title on March 6, 2:45 p.m.. Both games are at the Pyramid in Long Beach.

Soccer
The Division V boys' soccer title will be won by a Catholic school when Paraclete plays Salesian on March 6, 1 p.m. at La Mirada High School. Both schools won semifinal matches on March 2.

Loyola made the Division II final with a 1-0 win over Riverside Poly and will play Thousand Oaks for the championship on March 6, 11 a.m. at Cal State Fullerton. In Division VI, St. Bernard and St. Bonaventure lost their semifinal matches.

In girls' soccer, Notre Dame Academy reached the Division V final and will play Oaks Christian (which beat Marymount 3-2 in the semifinals) in the final on March 6 at La Mirada High School.
