CIF-Southern Section playoffs begin this week in several winter sports, with Catholic schools among those competing for championships.

Boys' Basketball

Division IIAA wild-card (Feb. 18): St. John Bosco defeated Bloomington 69-62; Cerritos beat Damien 46-43. First round (Feb. 20): Loyola vs. Antelope Valley or Foothill; St. John Bosco at Rancho Verde.

In first round games Feb. 18:

Division IIIAA: Alemany beat Mountain View 60-49 and will play Ocean View Feb. 20.

Division IIIA: Centennial beat Crespi 77-49; Chaminade beat South El Monte 68-40 and will play San Dimas Feb. 20; Muir beat Notre Dame 86-85 in overtime; Bishop Montgomery beat Santa Ynez 58-29 and will play Feb. 20 against St. Francis which beat Blair 63-55.

Division IVAA: St. Joseph (Santa Maria), bye, will play Crossroads (Feb. 20) which beat St. Bonaventure 63-52; Providence at Kern Valley; La Salle beat Cantwell Sacred Heart 85-62 and will play Silver Valley Feb. 20; St. Bernard beat Morro Bay 67-48, and will play Twentynine Palms Feb. 20; Serra beat Murphy 73-43.

Division IVA: Verbum Dei, bye, will play Montclair Prep Feb. 20; Mary Star beat Villanova Prep 52-49 and will play Woodcrest Christian Feb. 20; Santa Clara downed Pasadena Poly 66-28 and will play Yeshiva Feb. 20; Windward beat Bishop Diego 54-53.

Division VAA: St. Anthony beat First Lutheran 68-31 and will play Saddleback Valley Christian Feb. 20.
